More Young People Buying Homes Amid Government Support
Posted on 2025-11-07 18:55:13
Government incentives for first-time home buyers have boosted the share of
property purchases by young people over the past year.

According to Yongqing Housing Agency, buyers aged 20 to 35 in Taiwan's six
major municipalities and Hsinchu County and City accounted for a higher
proportion of home purchases — up by 3.5 to 5.8 percentage points compared
to 2020.

Analysts say tighter lending rules and credit controls cooled investment
demand, while government programs such as low-interest loans and subsidies
for first-time buyers made it easier for young people to enter the housing
market.

Hsinchu County saw the largest increase, with young buyers making up just
over 40 percent of transactions, followed by Taichung at nearly 37 percent.

In contrast, Taipei had the smallest youth share at 24 percent, reflecting
its high housing prices.
