KMT claims new members top 2400 since election

KMT chair Zeng Li-wen said the KMT must become a proactive and key promoter
of peace, because as long as the Taiwan Strait remains stable, the region and
the world will remain at peace.

She made the comments at a forum discussing the cross-strait relations 10
years after former President Ma Ying-jeou held a meeting with Chinese leader
Xi Jin-ping today.

She also claimed that the KMT is the only party capable of playing a crucial
role in achieving cross-strait reconciliation and peace, and says the party
will not shirk that responsibility.

Meanwhile the KMT says more than 2400 members have joined the party since
chair Zheng was recently elected.

Of those, about 60% have joined for the first time.

Spokesman Niu Xu Ting says, the figure demonstrates hope towards the KMT's
future.

Meanwhile Wu Zong Xian said politics should bring happiness to the people,
not misfortune to society.
