Labor Minister Hung Sun-han (洪申翰) says the government is still evaluating a proposal to relax rules for hiring foreign domestic helpers, including potentially allowing families with just one child to hire one.
Recent media reports suggested that the related policy and supplementary measures could be announced by the end of the year.
But speaking at an event in Taipei today, Hung says the entire package of measures is under evaluation, and there is no specific timetable for an announcement.
The proposal was first raised by President Lai Ching-te, and is aimed at increasing the female labor force participation rate.
Hung also says the ministry is assessing proposed changes to a monthly fee paid by employers of migrant workers, but such adjustments have not been finalized.
