Officials are raising concerns over China hosting next year's APEC summit.
China's Foreign Affairs Ministry said on Monday that Taiwan's participation in the annual summit in Shenzhen, Guang-dong Province, rests on its compliance with the "one China" principle.
Foreign Minister Lin Chia-lung says that Taiwan will coordinate with like-minded partners to ensure equal treatment and to oppose China's new conditions.
He emphasized that, when China applied to host the conference, it assured that Taiwan could participate in a capacity equal to other countries.
Meanwhile Finance Minister Zhuang Cui Yun says that Taiwan's equal treatment at next year's conference must be ensured.
The Chinese foreign ministry is dismissing safety concerns raised by Taiwanese officials.
