Taiwan Sees First Drop in Furloughed Workers This Half-Year

The number of employees on reduced working hours in Taiwan has fallen for the first time in the second half of the year.
According to the Ministry of Labor, around 8 thousand 300 workers across 455 companies are currently on furlough — over 200 less than the previous report.
Officials say the drop reflects a rebound in orders, prompting several large manufacturers to end furlough programs early.
The manufacturing sector continues to account for the majority of affected workers, with nearly 7 thousand 900 people from over 370 companies, mostly in metal and machinery industries.
