Taiwan launches global initiative on security of undersea cables

The government is launching an initiative to promote global cooperation on
undersea cables.

The Management Initiative on International Undersea Cables will aim to
protect the security of those cables,

That's as there have been severa; incidents of Taiwan's undersea cables being
cut or possibly damaged.

The project will be known as "risk," which stands for "risk mitigation,
information sharing, systemic reform, and knowledge building."

Foreign Minister Lin Chia Lung announced the plan, stating that Taiwan sits
at a key juncture of the global communications map, with several major
international undersea cables.
