MAC warns against cooperation with Chinese Taiwanese affairs' "bounty"

The Mainland Affairs Council is warning the public against complying with
Beijing's "bounty notices."
That's in reference to a newly created Facebook page run by China's Taiwan
Affairs Office.
Deputy chair of the MAC Liang Wen Jie noted that providing information on the
page may violate Taiwan's National Security Act.
Liang pointed out that doing so may lead to legal action by authorities, and
could mean prison time of 7 years or more.
The deputy chair of the council made the remarks when asked about the TAO's
Facebook page, which had about 18,000 followers as if Wednesday evening.
Most of the posts on the page are clips of the TAO spokesman answering
reporters' questions- all with Traditional Chinese subtitles.
Liang noted that TAO previously launched a facebook page in 2016, but it had
few followers and was shut down in 2020.
Liang also said that the MAC is "envious" of the TAO, as the TAO can set up a
facebook page for people in Taiwan to see...
whereas the MAC "clearly" cannot open a page on the Chinese social media
platform Weibo as it would be immediately blocked.
