The Ministry of Foreign Affairs says it plans to engage in "drone diplomacy" by supplying drones to its diplomatic allies for civilian uses and like-minded European countries facing Russian military threats.
According to the ministry's Department of N-G-O International Affairs, a "drone diplomacy task force" will be established to carry out the policy in two phases.
The first phase will focus on supplying Taiwan's diplomatic allies through drone donations to be used in agriculture, logistics, disaster prevention, coast guard, health care and infrastructure surveillance.
While the second phase will target like-minded international partners in the Asia-Pacific region such as Japan and the Philippines and that supply will include unmanned surface vessels, as well as both aerial and underwater drones.
Department head Charlie Chiang says Taiwan will also supply Central and Eastern European countries threatened by Russia, including Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, the Czech Republic and Germany ..
.. and that demand will focus on military use, especially for the land and battlefield.
However, Chiang has admitted that no timeline has yet been determined as to when the "drone diplomacy" will begin.
