Experts Confirm African Swine Fever Not Transmittable to Humans

Health experts are reassuring that African Swine Fever cannot be transmitted to humans.
This follows Taiwan's first suspected case of the virus, after many pigs were recently found dead at a farm in Taichung.
The Ministry of Agriculture has since imposed a five-day nationwide ban on pig transport and slaughter, and prohibited the use of kitchen waste as pig feed.
Doctors say that while the disease only affects pigs ... they advise consumers to buy inspected, certified pork ... and cook it throughly before eating.
The Food and Drug Administration reminds the public to look for the inspection seal on pork products to ensure they are safe to eat.
