EVA Airways has issued an apology after an employee sent a message to the phone of a flight attendant who died after falling ill at work asking her to submit leave application documents.
The apology was sent to the members of the woman's family.
According to the airline, the message requesting documentation for family care leave after her death was sent in error and the mistake occurred because a staff member was "insufficiently familiar with their work duties."
The carrier is stressing that it will conduct a review and make improvements.
The company is also expressing deep regret for causing distress to the woman's family and has extended its "deepest apologies."
The flight attendant was working on an flight from Milan to Taoyuan on September 24 when she reported feeling unwell.
Although she sought medical treatment on her arrival back in Taiwan, she was hospitalized two days later and died on October 8.
An investigation into the cause of the woman's death is still underway.
