The Ministry of Foreign Affairs says its mission in Frankfurt, Germany, is seeking clarification after a Taiwanese publisher was detained at customs for four hours.
Cheng Ting was traveling to Germany to attend the Frankfurt Book Fair when she was reportedly misidentified as a wanted criminal from China.
She was also accused of using a forged passport and was held and questioned for four hours after flying in from Bangkok on Sunday.
MOFA says German authorities initially claimed there was a discrepancy between the passport photo and the individual.
The ministry says it is now communicating with German officials to understand the basis of the misunderstanding and to provide assistance.
