Australia Prosecutors Appeal for Longer Sentence for Erin Patterson

Australian prosecutors have filed an appeal for a longer guaranteed prison
term for poisonous mushroom cook Erin Patterson.

She is currently set to serve at least 33 years for poisoning four of her
estranged husband’s relatives with death cap mushrooms.

Prosecutors say the sentence is “manifestly inadequate.”

Patterson was sentenced in September to life in prison for the triple murders
and an attempted murder.

Prosecutors argued she should never be eligible for parole.

Her lawyer plans to appeal her convictions.

Three Court of Appeal judges will hear both appeals on a date to be set.
