President Lai Thanks Hualien Volunteers

President Lai Ching-te is thanking the tens of thousands of volunteers who
assisted with disaster relief in Hualien.


Lai posted a video on social media and confirmed that he visited Guangfu
Township to see the progress of the central and local government's joint
efforts to repair and rebuild damaged homes.
He said most homes have been repaired, and the government will continue to
work until every home is fixed so people can return to normal life.



The president used the opportunity to thank the more than 100-thousand
volunteers who came to Hualien during the three-day Teacher's Day holiday.

He said the compassion shown by both local and international volunteers is
what makes Taiwan so highly respected.
