Hou You Yi calls for judicial reform re: Miaoli stabbing suspect

New Taipei Mayor Hou You Yi is calling for judicial reform, after a man with
prior convictions allegedly went on a stabbing spree yesterday in Miaoli.

The suspect had served 8 years in prison prior to the attack yesterday.

Mayor Hou emphasized today that victims of the attack deserve justice, and
should be able to sleep soundly knowing that it won't happen again.

He called for changes to the sentencing system...

but it wasn't clear from his remarks what kind of changes he was referring
to.

Meanwhile an 11 year old girl was who injured in the attack is now in stable
condition after undergoing treatment for collapsed lunds and internal
bleeding.

Another 11 year old girl and an older man were also injured in the attack at
a convenience store in the county.
