Giant to try to plead with US Customs and Border Protection

Taiwan's bicycle manufacturer Giant said today that it will take concrete actions, and activate contingency measures to seek the lifting of the Withhold Release Order issued by the US Customs and Border Protection last week.
CBP did it on the grounds that the company had violated labor standards.
Giant emphasized today that it has always adhered to the core values of upholding human rights and safeguarding labor conditions.
The group explained that it has set up an internal monitoring system and engaged third-party auditors to conduct surveys, ensuring that all operations comply with international human rights and labor rules.
However, International Trade Lawyer James Ransdell said it'll probably take a year for the removal of the Withhold Release Order, which means Ameirican importers of Giant products must suspend its orders.
