Taiwan track star Chen Kuei-ru is set to retire after this year's National Games.
The 31-year-old sprinter made the announcement today after a performance that fell below expectations at the Autumn Athletics Open.
He says he has tried many different methods, but his performance has not returned to his peak levels since his 2020 Tokyo Olympics appearance.
Chen is the national record holder for the men's 110-meter hurdles.
He won a silver medal at the 2017 Summer Universiade in Taipei and another silver at the 2018 Asian Games in Jakarta.
He advanced to the semifinals at the Tokyo Olympics, but has since then dealt with repeated injuries.
Chen says the National Games will be held in his hometown of Yunlin this year, and he hopes to end his career on a high note in front of his home crowd.
