Taiwan's Power Grid Stabilizes as Repairs Begin on Key Generators

Taiwan is moving to ease power supply concerns after a string of recent generator failures.
Deputy Economics Minister Lai Chien-hsin (賴建信) says TaiPower has completed its inspection report on Kaohsiung's Hsingta Power Plant fire ... and will soon submit it to the city government.
Meanwhile, the Linkou Power Plant's No.1 generator — damaged last week by a burst pipe — is expected to be restored to the grid next week.
Three major generators had gone offline in recent days, sparking fears of tighter electricity reserves.
But officials say emergency repairs, backup units, and storage systems are keeping supply stable.
TaiPower estimates that even during peak evening demand, reserve margins will remain above six percent — thanks in part to 1.6 million kilowatts of battery storage and virtual power plant capacity.
