Government Warns of Universal Cash Handout Scams

Authorities are warning the public to beware of online scams claiming to be
linked to Taiwan’s upcoming universal cash handouts.

The Finance Ministry says fake websites are circulating claims that citizens
can apply for the 10 thousand NT cash handout by entering credit card or bank
account details.

Officials stress this is a scam.

The ministry reminds the public that the program has not yet begun.

If the special budget passes in the legislature, the cash handouts could be
distributed as early as late October.

People are urged not to click or share suspicious links, and to only follow
information released through official government channels.
