Taiwan has raised its travel warning for Nepal to the orange alert level, urging citizens to avoid unnecessary trips after deadly anti-corruption protests earlier this month forced the government to step down.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs said the decision followed violent demonstrations on September 8th and 9th, which led to injuries, deaths, and curfews in several cities.
All 47 Taiwanese travelers in tour groups during the unrest have since returned safely, and about a dozen Taiwanese residents remain safe.
Nepal has since appointed former chief justice Sushila Karki as interim prime minister, with elections scheduled for March 2026.
Taiwan's government says it will continue monitoring the situation and provided emergency hotline numbers for citizens in Nepal.
