Mitsukoshi Reopening

With Taichung's Shin Kong Mitsukoshi department store set to reopen later
this month, competitors are running promotions to keep the customers they
gained.

Shin Kong Mitsukoshi was closed since a gas explosion in February ... but is
now stocking shelves again after getting approval to resume business.

During the closure, rival department stores like Top City, Chungyo, and Kuang
San SOGO all saw stronger sales.

Neighboring Top City says revenue for the first eight months of the year
reached over 14.7 billion NT, an 11% increase.

Chungyo reports a 10% revenue increase during the same period, and Kuang San
SOGO saw a rise of over 7%.

To attract more customers, Chungyo has launched a shopping festival with
heavy promotions and giveaways.

Meanwhile, SOGO is celebrating its 30th anniversary with weekly gifts and
prize draws for tickets to Japan and a concert by Hong Kong singer Aaron
Kwok.
