Taiwan People's Party founder and former Chairman Ko Wen-je is now at home after his wife Chen Pei-chi posted bail of 70 million NT.
Ko left the Taipei Detention Center Monday afternoon and headed to the Taipei District Court - where he was fitted with an ankle monitor.
He then left the court accompanied by his wife, T-P-P Chairman Huang Kuo-chang and internet personality Holger Chen - before addressing a crowd of some 700 of his supporters.
Ko thanked his supporters for standing by him over the past year and said prosecutors have found "nothing" incriminating despite comprehensive searches targeting him, his family, his assistants and the T-P-P.
The T-P-P founder said he hopes "Taiwan can be made better because of us, not torn apart by division, as it has been under President Lai Ching-te" and he went on to describe that the case against him a "miscarriage of justice."
Under the terms of his release, the court has banned Ko from leaving his residence, and he is prohibited from contacting codefendants or witnesses in the case.
Ko had been detained since September of last year in connection with two corruption cases.
He was indicted in December on four charges, including accepting 17-million N-T in bribes related to the Core Pacific City redevelopment case while serving as Taipei mayor, and for embezzling political donations during his 2024 presidential campaign.
