Three European countries threaten to reimpose UN sanctions

A diplomat says that representatives of three European countries threatening to reimpose U.N. sanctions on Iran over its nuclear program have failed to agree with their Iranian counterpart on how to avoid the move.
That comment comes just days ahead of the deadline.
France, Britain and Germany have threatened to trigger the “snapback mechanism” that automatically reimposes all United Nations sanctions on Iran over its nuclear program.
The European nations argue that Iran has “willfully” departed from their 2015 nuclear deal that lifted the sanctions.
But the diplomat also says efforts will continue to find a solution ahead of the deadline to invoke the “snapback mechanism” tied to the 2015 Iran nuclear deal.
