Taiwan High-Speed Rail has revealed its next-generation train: the N-700-S-T.
The design, inspired by Japan’s N-700-S Shinkansen, keeps the bright orange-and-black curves of the original 700-T fleet but updates them with a sleeker white nose and refined proportions.
The N-700-S-T will feature upgraded interiors with charging-equipped seats, dual luggage racks, L-C-D information displays, and vibration reduction.
Accessibility will also improve, with nursing rooms upgraded and wheelchair seating expanded from four to six spots.
The first train is under construction and expected to arrive in Taiwan in August 2026 for testing, with commercial service to begin in late 2027.
Once all 12 trains are operational, THSR estimates peak-hour capacity will rise by 25 percent.
