Health minister urges organ donation
Posted on 2025-08-18 17:39:13
Health Minister Qiu Tai Yuan is urging the public to sign up to become organ
donors, touting organ donation as giving people a second chance at life.

There are over 10,000 people in Taiwan currently waiting for organ donation,
while 3.3 people on average pass away each day because they are unable to get
an organ they need.

Therefore, Linkou's Changgeng memorial hospital is putting on an event today
to encourage the public to sign up.

Qiu said that the hospital has world class technology, which, combined with
organ donors, can save lives.

A patient who received a lung donation told reporters that she developed
pulmonary fibrosis, but after receibing a lung donation, she was able to
stand, walk, and even ride a bike after having been bedridden.

She expressed sincere gratitude to the donor who gave her a second chance at
life.
