Kaohsiung 10-story building fire kills 3, cause under probe

Three people died in a fire that broke out early this morning on the first
two floors of a 10-story building in Kaohsiung's Lin-yuan District.

The Fire Department said it received a report shortly after 4 AM and brought
the blaze under control within 30 minutes after 16 fire trucks and 36
firefighters were dispatched.

Police said the victims were a 38-year-old man, who's the son of an apartment
owner in the building, and two Vietnamese nationals, a man and a woman, whose
identities have yet to be confirmed.

Arson has been provisionally ruled out, while the cause of the fire remains
under investigation.
