High Court rejects Ko Wen-je's latest appeal against detention

Taipei Mayor Ko Wen-je and Taipei City Councilor Angela Ying will remain in custody for another two months... after the High Court rejected appeals for their release.
Both are key suspects in the Core Pacific City redevelopment corruption case.
The judges dismissed arguments by Ko and Ying, who said they did not present a flight risk and that their alleged crimes were not felonies.
The High Court also ruled both are considered flights risks due to their financial position.
Ko and Ying had called out the lower court's decision as lacking sufficient legal grounds.
Ying was first taken into custody by prosecutors on August 27, 2024 after she tried to fly to Hong Kong but failed.
While Ko was arrested on August 31 of last year -- one day after he refused to answer questions from investigators.
