Ex-Financial Regulator Sentenced in Long-Running Stock-Rigging Case
Posted on 2025-08-05 19:51:13
A former top official at the Financial Supervisory Commission has been
sentenced to four years and five months in prison in connection with a
stock-rigging case dating back two decades.

The Taiwan High Court handed down the ruling today in the fifth re-trial of
Lee Chin-cheng (李進誠), who headed the FSC’s Examination Bureau in 2005.

Lee was convicted of leaking confidential details of a government
investigation into Power Quotient International, which were used for stock
market gains.

The sentence was slightly reduced from a previous ruling and includes
electronic monitoring until August 2026.

Originally sentenced to 10 years in 2005, Lee’s case has seen multiple
appeals and reversals.

This latest ruling can still be appealed.
