KMT legislator Chen Yu Zhen says that the KMT legislative caucus wants to use money that they cut from the national defense budget to give out to citizens in the form of the proposed 10,000NT cash handout.
DPP spokesman Wu Zheng said that the 150 billion NT that the KMT caucus cut for defense spending would have gone towards improving national military infrastructure, renovating storage facilities, in addition to sea security monitoring systems in order to detect intrustions at sea.
Wu emphasized that these upgrades are of great importance as the PLA continues to send ships into waters controlled by Taiwan.
