Torrential rain causes 3 deaths, 50 injuries, while 4 people remain missing

The Central Emergency Operation Center says three people have died, 50 injuries have been reported and four people remain missing, as torrential downpours battered parts of Taiwan over the past week.
According to the center, the three deaths occurred on July 30 and 31 as a result of vehicle accidents during bad weather.
Two of those deaths were reported in Kaohsiung, while one was confirmed in Nantou.
The Kaohsiung deaths occurred on July 30 when a vehicle carrying a family of five plunged into a ravine along Provincial Highway No. 20 in during bad weather.
Two bodies have so far been recovered, while three of the passengers remains missing.
The fourth missing person is the rider of a scooter that was found along Provincial Highway No. 29 in Kaohsiung's Qishan District on Saturday.
The rain-related injuries included more than 20 in Kaohsiung and about 12 in Changhua County.
