The Legislative Yuan has passed a resolution asking that the Cabinet to fully
and promptly distribute the general subsidies to local governments.

The opposition TPP introduced the motion in late May soon after the Executive
Yuan canceled the subsidies by 25% in an apparant retaliation to the
opposition lawmakers' partial cancelations or freezing of the 2025 general
budget.

The TPP said the move not only violated the original intent behind the budget
cuts but also severely impacted local government finances and operations,
posing a serious threat to long-term development projects.

The subsidies for local governments mainly cover basic fiscal needs such as
education, social welfare, and essential infrastructure.

The motion was put on Legislative Yuan's agenda today with the majority KMT
plus the TPP, and together they passed the resolution 57 versus 48.
