The Ministry of Education is investing $440 million NT over five years in a new initiative aimed at strengthening students’ emotional resilience and interpersonal skills in the digital age.
The program will focus on Social and Emotional Learning (SEL), and includes developing localized curricula, training educators, and enhancing school environments to support emotional regulation, media literacy, and meaningful peer-to-peer interaction.
Officials say today’s youth face an emotionally isolating digital landscape, with digital overload and harsh online interactions contributing to growing mental health concerns.
The initiative will begin with $40 million NT allocated this year, followed by $100 million NT annually from 2026 to 2029.
