The National Institute of Cyber Security is urging the public to regularly check app permissions and carefully choose apps to avoid privacy leaks and misuse of personal data by the Chinese government.
It comes after the National Security Bureau recently warned about high privacy risks in apps like RedNote, TikTok, Weibo, WeChat, and Baidu Cloud.
Government checks found these apps collect sensitive data, read private files, track location, and may send information to servers in China.
The concern is that this data could be used by Chinese security agencies.
Experts say users should read app permission settings carefully, turn off unnecessary access, and avoid downloading unknown apps.
They also suggest using security tools to watch out for strange behavior online and think twice before sharing sensitive information.
