The Ministry of National Defense says, civilians will get notifications on their phones in this year's urban resilience drills.
The staggered drills, from July 15th to 18th, will involve issuing an alarm, and conducting evacuation and traffic controls... in addition to mobile phone alerts through the "air threat warning system."
The drills will involve several counties and cities across Taiwan; on the 15th, the drills will take place in the center, including in Miaoli, Taichung, Nantou, Changhua, Yunlin, and Chiayi city and county.
On the 16th, affected regions will be Tainan, Kaohsiung, and Pingtung, and the 17th will affect the north, from Yilan over to Hsinchu.
Finally, the 18th will involve Hualien, Taitung, and the outlying islands.
The drills will take place from 1:30-2pm for most of the areas, except for the east and outlying islands, which will be from 10-10:30.
The drills in Taipei, Taichung, and Tainan in particular will involve drills aimed at protecting critical infrastructure and defense mobilization.
Officials remind the public to remain calm if they are driving when the air raid sirens sound, and encourage cooperation with the police and civil defense personnel.
