Taipei police have arrested nine people and seized more than $12.75 million
NT in counterfeit Taiwan dollars ... in a major crackdown on a drug and
counterfeiting ring.

The operation targeted a group led by a known member of the "Four Seas Gang"
... as well as a convicted counterfeiter who police said was known as the
"counterfeit currency master".

Raids in Taipei, New Taipei, and Hsinchu uncovered drugs, fake cash, and
counterfeit printing materials.

Among the items seized: over 12-thousand fake $1-thousand NT bills, heroin,
amphetamines, and five air guns.

Authorities are urging the public to stay alert for fake currency and report
any suspicious notes.

Police have released nine counterfeit bill serial numbers and warned the
public not to use or keep any fake notes.

All nine suspects face charges under Taiwan's currency and narcotics laws.
