MOHW: Studies Show Domestic Abuse Reported Years After

A new study from National Taiwan University reveals that victims of domestic
violence wait years before reporting the abuse.

The study released today shows that while overall domestic violence reports
have doubled in the past 20 years, victims often endure the abuse for an
average of more than four years before going to authorities.

And the study finds that about half of the cases involve intimate partners.

The Ministry of Health and Welfare notes that intimate partner violence is
often hidden due to the nature of the relationship, involving emotional
entanglements, financial disputes, and child custody issues.
