Government to spend NT$700m for new immigrants agency

Vice Interior Minister Wu Tang-an says the proposed "new immigrant development agency" will have a budget of around 700-million N-T and have around 100 full-time employees if it's launched next year.
The statement comes as lawmakers are reviewing a proposal to amend the Organization Act of the Ministry of the Interior.
That Act includes a draft bill for the establishment of a new immigration development agency.
The proposal for such an agency was first outlined in the New Immigrants Basic Act, which was passed in July of last year - which stated that the Ministry of the Interior must oversee its establishment.
The vice interior minister says his office has already formed a preparatory group for the agency and when operational it will oversee services related to education, employment, empowerment, and care as needed by new immigrants.
However, the vice minister has not said when preparations for the agency's establishment will be finalized.
