The island's first domestically built submarine is now undergoing the final stage of its harbor trials.
Stills and moving images show the Narwhal prototype leaving C-S-B-C's dock at the Port of Kaohsiung this past weekend.
The prototype was seen sailing slowly around the port on its own with more than 10 technicians on its deck.
An unnamed military source says the tests were part of the final stage of the ongoing harbor acceptance tests and are related to the sub power systems.
The Ministry of National Defense's original timeline indicate the Narwhal's sea acceptance tests were supposed to begin in April and completed by September 30 to meet the November delivery deadline.
But there have been setbacks to the sea acceptance tests schedule.
Defense Minister Wellington Koo last month said the sea acceptance tests would only proceed once all safety requirements are fully met.
