A Hong Kong-flagged freighter struck a pier at Kaohsiung Port last night, causing some damage.
Port officials say the vessel was leaving the area at around 6pm when the collision occurred, causing one vessel to sink, and snapping a mooring line on another vessel.
No injuries or oil spills were reported.
The port says traffic controllers had warned the freighter that it was too close to a pier, and the captain of the ship has passed an alcohol test.
Authorities are assessing the damage and say they will seek compensation from those responsible.
