Authorities say they've siezed over 15-thousand kilograms of drugs and arrested 3-thousand-700 suspects within 40 days ... as part of an ongoing effort to crackdown on drugs.
Today's announcement covered results of a key anti-drug initiative from between March 10th and April 18th ... called the "Safe Community Anti-Drug Project".
Premier Cho Jung-tai praised the results and urged continued efforts to strengthen drug prevention and enforcement.
Customs officials highlighted several major busts, including large quantities of etomidate smuggled from India, ketamine from Thailand, and heroin concealed in tissue boxes.
In a separate development, investigators uncovered a scam involving a public employee who allegedly submitted fake anti-smuggling reward claims.
Premier Cho has called for swift legal action and internal reforms in response.
Authorities continue to stress that drug trafficking in Taiwan carries severe penalties, including life imprisonment or the death penalty.
