AmCham: U.S. Urged to Treat Taiwan as a Partner, Not an Adversary

The American Chamber of Commerce in Taiwan is urging the U.S. to treat Taiwan as a trusted partner, not an adversary.
It called for removing new tariffs, restarting high-level U.S. cabinet visits, and finalizing a double taxation deal.
In April, U.S. President Donald Trump announced a 32 percent tariff on Taiwan, now paused for 90 days.
Talks between Taiwan and the U.S. are ongoing.
AmCham Taiwan President Carl Wegner said Taiwan is a key U.S. ally in the Indo-Pacific and a vital player in global supply chains.
He warned that tariffs aimed at strategic rivals like China are unfairly affecting Taiwan.
Wegner will lead a delegation to Washington this month to push for stronger business ties.
AmCham’s White Paper also urges the U.S. Senate to quickly resolve the stalled double taxation agreement to boost investment between the two economies.
