Prosecutors say DPP City Councilor Chen Yi Jun took bribes totaling 700,000 NT, on top of allegedly embezzling assistant fees.
The bribes allegedly came from a developer Pinjia Construction, who wanted to pressure the Taipei City government to speed up the processing of certain construction projects and building permits.
Chen and her assistant Zhang Huilin 張惠霖 were both indicted today, and Pinjia heads Hu Weiliang 胡偉良 and Gao Mingyi 高明義 were also indicted for bribing them for projects in Datong district.
Prosecutors found that Hu and Gao recruited Zhang as a consultant, payng monthly fees over 39,000 NT from August 2023 to February this year.
Chen and Zhang are accused of taking advantage of their power to put pressure on the review and construction units of the Taipei City government through lobbying, coordination, and on-site surveys.
