Taipei Urges Seniors to Get COVID Vaccine Updated

Taipei health officials are urging seniors and immunocompromised individuals
to get vaccinated against COVID-19.

The city's Department of Health says it has noted a significant rise in
severe cases recently, mostly among individuals aged 65 and older.

And the city says six fatalities have been reporetd, all among seniors who
had not received the JN.1 vaccine.

The department says this wave of infections has led to a 50-percent increase
in JN.1 vaccinations.

Officials advise all individuals aged six months or older to receive one dose
of the JN.1 vaccine, as well as to take precautions such as wearing face
masks in crowded places.
