The latest "30 Hour Famine" launched by World Vision is advocating for underprivileged children here in Taiwan.
The 36th edition of the group's annual event is aimed specifically at bringing attention to the plight of underprivileged children, such as victims of earthquake-affected locations.
World Vision Taiwan President Lee Shao-lin says her organization initiated a three-year program following last April's magnitude 7.2 earthquake that hit Hualien aimed at supporting children affected by it.
Lee says a key part of the fund raising is World Vision's most recognizable charity campaign known as the "30 Hour Famine" - where participants register online, donate money and fast for between 30 and 40 hours.
The annual "30 Hour Famine" attract celebrities such as award-winning actress-director Sylvia Chang, who has as participated in several famine events.
