Election commission chief accuses KMT of 'organized criminal behavior'

Central Election Commission Chairman Lee Jin-yong is accusing the K-M-T of what he's calling "organized, systemic criminal behavior"...
The comments come amid a series of ongoing investigations into allegations using forged signatures in recall vote campaigns.
K-M-T lawmakers have called the commission's decision to refer alleged wrongdoing to prosecutors during the first stage of the recall vote process as "unfair."
In the past, suspected forgeries were only reported after voting had ended... the most notable example involves the 2020 recall of former Kaohsiung Mayor Han Kuo-yu.
Lee said current investigations were opened after complaints were filed between early February and March by citizens, and after more than a dozen requests from prosecutorial and investigative agencies.
He added the election commission only moved forward with a referral after internal checks confirmed the presence of forged documents and fake seals, triggering a legal obligation under Article 241 of the Code of Criminal Procedure to report the case.
