Kaohsiung Int. Airport Launches Terminal Upgrade with New Parking Structure

Kaohsiung International Airport has begun construction of an east-side
multi-level parking lot...

...marking the first step in a comprehensive terminal renovation.

The new facility will provide over 2,300 parking spaces for cars,
motorcycles, as well as taxi queues.

Phase one of the redevelopment costs over $43 billion NT ... and includes a
new terminal concourse, taxiway relocation, as well as parking facilities.

The full plan, valued at $88 billion NT, aims to raise the airport's annual
capacity to 16.5 million by 2040.

At today's groundbreaking ceremony, Transport Minister Chen Shih-kai
emphasized the airport's role in Taiwan's southern development and the
"Greater Southern New Silicon Valley" initiative.

Lawmakers at the ceremony said Kaohsiung needs a 24-hour airport, with
expanded flight and ferry routes and services to support tourism and
industry.
