The central bank is urging market commentators to avoid excessive speculation about the continuing sharp appreciation of the New Taiwan dollar against the U-S dollar -- warning such behavior disrupts market order.
The institution responsible for managing the country's monetary policy is also calling on local companies to not rush to sell off U-S dollars in response to speculation - stressed the need for them protect their own long-term interests.
According to the central bank, the comments and actions are creating expectations that the currency will continue to strengthening.
The statement came after the U-S dollar fell further against the New Taiwan on Monday, to close at 30.145 N-T.
The decline continued a fall seen last Friday, when the greenback shed 0.953 N-T to end at the week at 30.064 N-T.
The U-S dollar fell by a total of 6.21-per cent during the two sessions against the New Taiwan dollar.
Reports are attributing the U-S dollar's sharp losses to pressure from the Trump administration, as Taiwan and the U-S have entered talks over a potential reduction of the 32-per cent reciprocal tariff.
The central bank says it is not part of Taiwan's negotiating team with the U-S and has never participated in the talks and is stressing that the U-S Treasury Department has not asked Taiwan to push up the New Taiwan dollar.
