Taipei Metro: Drinking water in the station will cost you

Taipei Metro is reminding passengers that drinking water inside the station
is prohibited for all ages.

The fine for drinking water past the gates of the station is up to 7500 NT.

Eating is also not allowed in the station.

The only exceptions to the rule are for the ill or breastfeeding babies.

This comes after online discourse asked if drinking water on the MRT train
was really that serious of an offense, with some online agreeing that the
punishment was too harsh while others agreed with Taipei metro's strong
enforcement of the rule.

Passengers are recommended to eat or drink before passing the yellow line
before the gates into the station.
