D-P-P lawmakers have established a friendship group with their counterparts
in Ukraine.

The move was initiated by D-P-P lawmaker Chen Kuan-ting.

Chen says the group aims to promote parliamentary exchanges between the two
countries...

He says Taiwan cannot turn its back on Ukraine due to the increasingly dire
situation there and because both sides have common values and interests.

Present at the group's inaugural ceremony were Deputy Foreign Minister
Francois Wu and Lutz Gullner, head of the European Economic and Trade Office
in Taiwan.

During the event, the deputy foreign minister said Taiwan will continue to
work together with like-minded friendly nations in Europe to support
Ukraine's reconstruction efforts.

Wu also expressed his hope that Taiwan and Ukraine can further deepen their
cooperation through parliamentary exchanges, city-to-city diplomacy, and
other diverse channels.
