Google announces that it has signed a corporate geothermal power purchase agreement, or P-P-A, with Baseload Power Taiwan.
This marks Google's first geothermal energy deal in the Asia-Pacific region.
The company aims to leverage Taiwan’s abundant geothermal resources to promote the development of all-day-long clean energy both in the Asia-Pacific and around the world.
In an official blog post, Google explained that since signing Taiwan’s first renewable energy PPA in 2019, it has been actively working to accelerate the development of clean energy to meet the needs of its local data centers and offices.
The newly signed geothermal PPA will involve a project developed by Baseload Power Taiwan and add 10 megawatts of "always-on" power to Taiwan’s grid, supporting the growth of the country's geothermal market.
