Taiwan will expand its Long-Term Care 3.0 program next year to include more people under 65.
The new plan will cover those under 50 with early-onset dementia and younger stroke patients who are disabled.
Health officials say the change aims to help working-age people return to their jobs with better support.
Eligibility will no longer depend only on age but also on medical need, especially for those in post-acute care.
The program will also focus on palliative care, rehab, smart care, and assistive device support.
Officials estimate over 5-thousand new patients under 65 may join by 2026.
The Health Ministry is also reviewing rules to ease the burden on staff, after reports that patients were upset when yearly reviews reduced their care hours.
